NKRA CRIME

Introduction : Explain little bit on NKRA crime

Point 1 : Decrease the street crime

Government used the concept of 'OMNIPRESENCE' ( more visibility and mobility)
Placing closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) in hotspots to prevent criminals. ( kl, penang n jb)
Safe city program

Point 2 : Improve the perception of safety & policing. (through participation and volunteerism)

Increasing the public’s sense of safety (Assigning senior police officers (ranked Inspectors and above) to patrol together with beat police for 3-5 hours a week.)
Encouraging volunteers (SRS -skim rondaan sukarela ; Rakan Cop -sms )
Communicating with the public on crime.(Communication about crime prevention and crime enforcement across a variety of media channels will help the public be less afraid of crime)

Point 3 : Improve the overall performance & professionalism.

Increase the response time for 999 calls by instituting caller tracking and implementing first response via motorbike.
Highest performing stations will be rewarded, and the lowest performers will be supported and monitored until their performance improves.
The existance of special court (tribunal) for quicker prosecution of street crimes.
Strengthening law authority presence with over 3,000 trained volunteers (including from Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (JPAM) and Ikatan Relawan Rakyat Malaysia (RELA) by June 2010.
